The assignment for this project was to come up with an idea for a company from scratch, create a logo, stationary set, and several product designs. I chose to make a cat café named Mocha Miaou. (Miaou = meow in French.) We started off by doing some mind-mapping – writing down words, feelings, anything that came to mind about the overall theme of your company, resulting in a massive web of words. From there we moved into making mood boards to convey what we wanted our companies to feel and look like. I stayed in the sketch phase for a long time, creating over 100 sketches of kitties in various poses, because I knew I wanted this logo to have a handmade, illustrative quality to represent the company. Eventually we moved into the digital phase, finalizing the logos and creating products for the company. I created a pattern, stationary, membership card, to-stay and to-go mugs, a welcome sign, advertisements, website, and exterior of the building. To wrap it all up, we created a brand book focusing on all the brand guidelines and products of the company.
